Learn About Radios
Here you will learn what radios and what system best fits your communications needs.
Some of our customers have fleets of vehicles that they need to communicate with in the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex. He had been using Nextels and cell phones but was tired of the large bills every month. Our Wide Area Coverage Systems meet this need. Recently a customer started a trucking business delivering goods around Dallas. He called us. We signed him up on our Wide Area Coverage system. We installed a base at his office for dispatching the trucks. And installed mobile radios in his all his vehicles. Now he can talk to any truck at anytime without the worry of minutes, lost or broken cell phones. In other circumstances, customers need a combination of Radio to Radio and Wide Area or combination of other options. One example is a customer that needed radio to radio but also needed wide area coverage. For this customer we sold him a pair of Digital UHF radios that had Wide Area Coverage on one channel and radio to radio on another. They repaired air conditioning units in large buildings. When they were driving around town, they communicated through the wide area system on Channel 1. When they got to the work site, they switched over to radio to radio. There are a variety of options and technologies we can utilize to get you talking. Call us today for a free consultation.

First things First: What you should know about Two-Way Radio

You can currently find all types of two-way radio products all over the web and even at Wal-Mart(many of these “retail” radios are poorly built and claim they talk 10 to 20miles, please do not believe this, most of these radios are half watt that talk about less than a mile). Dallas Mobile Communications has been in the business of two-way radio for over thirty years. With this experience we have narrowed down what radios work and those that don’t, what two way radio systems work and those that don’t. It is as simple as that. Along with the different places to buy two way radios, there as many two way radio products and brands. We have cut out the fat for you. What’s left is a line of professional two way radios, accessories and systems that will fit your specific need. Every customer is different along with their environments. We have come up with a simple process that takes you through steps to determine what two way radios best meet your communications needs. Why deal with an online only company that will sell you a cheap radio that will break in just a few months? Call us today or fill out our request form below. Please continue to the steps below to see what radios you need for your company.

The Digital Wave: Recently the FCC put out a regulation that every radio in public safety be narrowband compliant. This has set off a digital wave of new technology in two way radios. When a radio is “narrow banded” (especially those on repeater systems) the audio level drops significantly. This has caused people to migrate their systems to a digital one. Some of the benefits of going digital are: clear audio, further reaching, narrow banding does not affect audio, better wall penetration, multiple user options like text messaging and GPS. Most digital radios cost more than analog radios. We carry iCOM, Hytera and Kenwood Digital radios and repeaters.
In this situation, there are only hand held portable radios used to communicate from person to person within a 2 mile radius. Most customers are in one building or designated area. For example, restaurants, bars, night clubs, concert arenas are one of our most common customers who just need basic Radio to Radio communications. The perfect and most affordable radios for basic radio to radio communications are the Titan (a 2watt radio that is very light and the smallest radio we carry) or the Kirisun, a compact light weight radio that is 4watts strong. In some situations, like one of our customer’s who is in the construction business needed some very durable radios that can take extreme conditions. In this case we recommended the Hytera PD782 and the Hytera PD702. These are our top of the line digital radios that have been designed to take high falls, plunged in water, resistant to dust and meet military standards. These radios cost more than the Titan or Kirisun. It all depends on what your needs are and what radio will best fit your company.
Sometimes a customer needs a little boost to reach some places in a building or area where a basic radio to radio system doesn’t work. One of our current customers has a manufacturing plant. At first they used Radio to Radio. After the plant expanded, they could not reach certain areas of the plant. They basically lost 20% of coverage. We installed a Hytera 5Watt repeater. The repeater is basically a special radio that retransmits a signal to give you better range and coverage. Once we installed the repeater, the customer had 100% coverage throughout the plant. To note, this customer had purchased radios from us for years. So the radios he had were programmable. We simply re-programmed his radios to a “repeater pair” and he was now talking through the repeater out to the other radios. If you need a 5watt repeater system, you may have to upgrade your current portable radios. No worries though, we take care of all that for you with our free consultation. . 5Watt Repeater System: Sometimes a customer needs a little boost to reach some places in a building or area where a basic radio to radio system doesn’t work. 5watt Repeater System
This is one of our sweetest deals. This repeater brings you 50Watts of coverage in both analog and digital mode. This digital repeater will cover a wide area and will penetrate through thick walls. We installed the Digital Hytera RD-892 for one of our customers to cover four buildings, and it worked perfectly. We also installed repeaters in all of their 10 locations across the USA. The great thing about this repeater is that we can migrate your current radios to digital. Let’s say you have a fleet of analog radios that you currently use and now you need a repeater that will cover your building (and the 5watt will not work). We can install the Digital repeater and program it to work simultaneously on Digital and Analog. This means that you can replace your old radios a few at a time or as your budget allows for. In some caeses, customers revamp their entire system, installing the new Digital repeater along with the digital portable radios, the PD-782 and the PD-702. Digital Repeater: Hytera RD-982 This is one of our sweetest deals.
